~Jenny Noble~ “Dreamtime is the multi-dimensional reality in which three-dimensional reality floats.” ~~ Robert Moss
In dreams the Soul speaks its wishes, travels to other realms, and initiates us into our Bigger Story. Active Dreaming goes beyond interpretive mind-games to teach us how to live. This workshop will quantum-grow our collective dream. Bring your dream journal, a cover for your eyes, and your sense of adventure! Jenny Noble has dreamed in the Cariboo for nearly ever, and studied Active Dreaming with its originator Robert Moss for 8 years, including all levels of his teacher training. Her bread-crumb trail has wandered through forestry, bartending, Astrology, Tarot and teaching. |

Intuitive communication with animals is a spiritual experience that brings with it a felt sense of unity. Acknowledging the intelligence, emotion, awareness and sentience of other beings is part of the process and brings us back toward balance. Thea has been researching this topic for many years and will share some knowledge and stories of her experiences and invite you to offer yours before facilitating a guided visualization and interspecies communication exercise.
Thea Fast works with her horses through Human Be Herd (info at humanbeherd.com) to offer Equine Facilitated Personal Development(EFPD).

~Richard Case~ Transitioning is about envisioning (and planning for) the future in the context of the realization that we are both at the beginning and end of an age, hence transitioning (either proactively or reactively). A rapidly changing climate, the depletion of global oil reserves, and now an economic meltdown are the drivers of this realization. Proactive transition envisioning processes and activities at a community level (towns, cities, hamlets, islands, neighborhoods, etc.) began in the UK around 2004. They labeled themselves "Transition Towns". As they learned and were questioned by other communities, they developed a blueprint that has spawned a worldwide viral movement to thousands of comunities and now spreading to the US and Canada. The aim of a transition initiatve is to simultaneously and creatively (in a fun way) address NOW the twin threats of climate change and peak oil as opposed to doing nothing and being caught by surprise. The blueprint suggests that after 2 or so years of raising awareness and engaging the community (activists, youth, local government, business) the focus becomes the development of increased "Community Resilience", a Relocalized Independent Economy" and an "Energy Descent Plan." In many ways the vision is based on older lifestyles that are more enjoyable connected to community and the land. We have a window of opportunity (1 to 10 years) to make this transition creatively before it is imposed by nature. This vision is not necessarily about going back to the past, however the future will be different depending on us. To our benefit we have tools, knowledge (ecological), and communication technologies that will help with the transition. |

~Lorne Dufour and Sage Birchwater~ Lorne specializes in poetry. He has published two books of poetry and has had numerous poems published in various journals and magazines. He invites people of all age levels and various degrees of poetry experience to come out and check out what poetry means. "All age groups, high school, elder or and inbetweener! Anyone with courage, with heart, with even a faint memory of the power of the imagination. If you have the desire to learn, to experience and to participate in creating something both beautiful and interesting then this workshop is for you. "For instance it matters not that pure sarcasm exists in some lines by W. H. Audin or hatred becomes almost celebrated in the "Daddy" poem by Sylvia Plath. Nor does it matter that other poems by different poets often celebrate not only the act of discovering something, something that we usually walk right by without realizing how powerful it is. Love poems, being in love, life itself, especially when the imagination is being used. We should never be denied their beauty and strength." Sage has thirty years of journalism and reporting under his belt. For twenty years he roamed the Chilcotin from Nemiah Valley to Bella Coola covering the news, events and happening of the time. In the process he met some very interesting people and was introduced to the art of storytelling. Sage has written five books, edited several others, and contributed to periodicals like Lived Experience. Much of his work deals with oral history, or recording other people’s stories. "Story telling and oral history are the talking points of culture. Come and tell your own story; learn techniques of interviewing. Discover your inner voice, your literary voice. Court your muse, articulate your soul. Speak your authority. Come join our writers’ circle." Participants are encouraged to bring a poem or short story they are working on. (Bring extra copies to share so we can all enjoy these stories and poems.) Bring samples of authors or poets that turn you on or inspire you. Perhaps we can turn you towards authors who you can learn from. Perhaps you will discover ways to make your poems and stories more poignant and possibly more powerful. What to Expect – Lorne Dufour and Sage Birchwater will facilitate the workshop. We’re not "experts" we’re writers. Our aim is for participants to inspire one another. It’s a writer’s "circle" after all because we’re all in it together. Each participant has a valid voice to share. Consider Submitting Your Work to be Published – We are looking for writers of prose or poetry interested in submitting their work to Lived Experience, a "literary journal from the Mountains of BC" edited and published by our friend Van Andruss from Yalakom near Lillooet. There are other publishing options out there we can talk about. What To Bring – A pen, pencil or some other writing implement, a pad of paper to write on, and samples of writing you have done or are in the process of creating. Bring any works of favourite writers that inspire you that you’d like to share with the group. A Writers’ Fellowship – Wouldn’t it be awesome if this workshop brought together some writers in the Cariboo Chilcotin who could stay in touch afterwards, inspire each other, bounce wild and crazy ideas off each other, and who knows what.

~Madeline LaBerge~ “Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask, and he will tell you the truth.” Oscar Wilde Masks are a wonderful way to transform yourself into any magical creature of your imagination. Making plaster masks is a wonderful activity as it can be done by children and adults alike. It also can take less than an hour to make a mask or you can take your time and embellish your mask in great detail. The activity can be done in pairs or alone.
