Workshops

Our goal is to provide holistic workshops put on by a variety of participants at the gathering, that look at the techniques, practices and methods for integrating health and joy into our lives.  (This could be you! If you would like to host a workshop and share some of your knowledge in 2009 please email us at pollination1@gmail.com )

There will also be a Tribal Market that will be held on Saturday between lunch and dinner inside the Hive.  We encourage all crafters, artists and vendors to display and sell there goods.  Vendors are required to purchase tickets for the event and are welcome to make a donation to the Cariboo Dreamcatcher Collective after the market.

Bring your expertise and interest to a guided discussion group on alternative building techniques.  Learn about local examples featuring cob, straw, cord wood buildings, etc.

Contact Dance

Experience the connection of dance with Matsya who will guide us through a contact dance workshop.

Sacred timing frequencies - precision audio evolving the genome

this workshop will explore the concepts of mayan timing frequencies, relationships of how their geometry as reflected in certain music genres
and the code of life itself, merging history, physics, and music with our evolution.

Tipi Raising

Participate in the raising of a Traditional First Nations shelter which will be used throughout the event.  For those early comers this workshop will take place in the early afternoon on Friday.

Drumming with Sssnap

Granville Johnson and Martyn Piper will be hosting 3 Hand Drum Improvisation workshops which include a Stroke technique for entry level to intermediate level drummers, An expression in Hand Drumming for Intermediate to Advanced Level Drummers, and a Speed Drumming for advanced level players, an exploration of Poly-rhythm. Drums will be provided and all workshops will incorporate the drum circle format.

Crystal Bowl Toning

Christine Paton will walk us through Chakra toning with the crystal bowls by tune us up using voice, toning, and the bowls.  Lots of fun.  Very energizing, clearing, and powerful.

Early Morning Meditation

Curtis began practicing Aikido in 1986.  He trained in Japan for one year with the Tokyo Riot Police in 1990.  Curtis has been teaching Aikido, Zen Sword Meditation, Zazen meditation to young and old for the past 15 years.  Currently on Sabbatical from regular teaching, he is exploring different meditation and training methods.

Face of Hope

Madaline Laberge introduces a Roomful of Missing Women “Face of Hope” Workshop. This powerful exhibition by Betty Kovacic, comprised of 50 portraits of women who went missing from Vancouver’s east side and 50 shrouded figures. The two-hour experience includes an introduction of the exhibition; time to experience the installation, a debriefing in our feedback centre and a studio art project. During the studio activity, participants will create their own portraits in response to portraits in the exhibition using acrylic paint and canvas board.

Plant Spirit Medicine

Chrysta Huska -Experiences of deep peace and vibrantly alive stillness in wild places, formed my awakening at a young age.  I have dedicated the past 15 years to “reading the book” of nature and journeying towards a deeper connection with all beings.  Grandmother Earth is one of our greatest teachers, constantly modeling to humanity the power of “being present”.  My intention is to continuously evolve into a long forgotten wisdom.  A wisdom the Earth resounds and we carry the echoes of.  The wisdom of inner authority, peace, harmony and unity.
